Tarpon season Flyfishing report

The tarpon fishing continues to heat up in the keys. The fish have been plentiful in most backcountry and ocean side areas from Miami down to Key west. Calm weather days have been spent mostly out in the backcountry, throwing flies at laid up tarpon and rolling fish. I love to tarpon fish in the backcountry as the water is usually off color and the fish bite better. The fish have been moving in the ocean as usual this time of the year. Getting bites in the ocean gets very tough during days with no wind, sunny skies and clear water but the fish still will take your feathers if you do everything perfect. Get good at catching these clear water tarpon in the ocean and you can consider yourself at the pinnacle of Flyfishing in saltwater. The fish are stacked up in the bridges and channels if you decide to go with a spinning rod and live bait. Still have open dates on May and late June.
