Catchin' That Spring Fever

Like the title says, that spring fever is an easy catch. The calm warm days between the fronts sure do make for a nice time on the water. The Kings have shown up and if you are willing to take the time to chase 'em, are more than willing to co-operate. There are still plenty of Spanish up in close but are on the usual bite one day, vanish the next, schedule. The triggers are still hot and , for some reason, the scamps have decided to feed hard the past week. The glory fish of Spring time, the ol' brown back crab crunchin' cobia is still a sporadic show this season. I have had several days where we haven't seen a fish and then the next day you find 'em. I guess that's why they are still such a big deal for us fishheads ! Here's a few pic's from the past week or so of charters. Some of these are longer trips (6-7 hours) where we were able to chase both bottom critters and cobias- {%image_id=20416%} These folks had a GREAT 6 hr with a limit of Kings, a pair of cobia and good assortment of bottom dwellers. {%image_id=20415%} Some days it all comes together. We saw 7 cobia this day, hooked 4 and landed these 3 fine ones. {%image_id=20414%} Always nice to be congratulated on a good catch ! {%image_id=20505%} My secret fish finding machine - still on board ! {%image_id=20506%} Another good catch on a 7 hr- bottom dig for a while- fill the box, and then find a cobia on the bar. {%image_id=20507%} These folks just doubled thier lifetime cobia count ! {%image_id=20413%} Fillin' Up the Box Plenty of species, lots of options. The pompano even showed pretty good a week ago but the grass has kept most flea flickers off the beach the past few days. Get out there and catch something ! Capt Larry Pentel
