The fishing this past week in and around Estero Bay was very slow. The bite was best the first few hours of the day, but as the water and air temps heated up the fish moved deep into cover areas and were not feeding. Redfish were taking cut pin fish and chinked ladyfish thrown up along mangrove shorelines on high water. Anglers can also look for them in deeper channels along shallower grass flats. The passes have been holding good numbers of snapper, silver trout, and a few pompano. Bouncing shrimp tipped jig heads seems to work best. If table fare is what you are seeking, then fish any blow down or structure and you will find snapper. Shrimp tipped jig heads will work fine. You might have to go through a few to get a keeper, but they are here and feeding. Anglers can also target sharks off the beaches and near the passes by using cut baits on the bottom. Might take a while for the first one to show, but once they get going they will provide some quality rod bending action.

Tight Lines,
