This past week the redfish were status quo. Good that is. The bite has been good both on incoming and outgoing tides around the oyster bars and mangrove islands. Shrimp tipped jig heads, shrimp on circle hooks under floats, or free lined pinfish will work fine. Anglers can also try cut pinfish or ladyfish, but must be patient and work through the first few catfish. On higher water work the mangrove islands with shrimp tipped jig heads and throw back as far as possible. They have been hanging out way back into the bushes. Seatrout are starting to make their way to the grass flats near the passes and are willing to take shrimp under popping corks. This is also a great way to pick up your ladyfish for cut bait. Locate the small bait pods and birds and start casting, they are hanging out under this bait.
