The fishing this past week continued to be tough for anglers in the shallows of Estero Bay. The seatrout bite was decent over the grass flats in 3-5 feet of water. Shrimp under popping corks worked best, but anglers could try artificial's like gulp jerk shads or rapala skitterwalks. There is also a good by-catch of ladyfish and jacks with this method. Cut ladyfish is a good option for anglers looking for redfish around the oyster bars. Working these on high water has produced some quality fish the past week. Shrimp on jig's or under floats has also worked fine. There are a few sheepshead still hanging around the oyster bars and mangrove islands and shrimp tipped jig heads is the best set-up. There has been a really good tarpon bite up around Captiva and Sanible Island and drifting free-lined threadfin herrings or crabs is the ticket!
