The fishing has been tough due to water quality issues, but there is a bite is anglers can locate clean moving water. The redfish bite has been best on good moving water around the mangrove islands and oyster bars. Cut bait like pinfish or ladyfish along with shrimp tipped 1/8 oz jig heads is the go-to set-up. The passes have been loaded with mackerel, ladyfish, and jacks. Casting shrimp tipped jig heads or shrimp under popping corks will work best. Grass flats in 3-5 feet of water have been producing a decent seatrout bite. Anglers should fish the flats near the passes because this had been the best water for holding fish.
