The ever changing weather has made fishing tough for anglers in and around Estero Bay, but when the winds lay down there are plenty of opportunities. There are redfish to be caught around the oyster bars and mangrove islands on good moving water. Cut ladyfish or shrimp tipped jig heads will work fine. Anglers must be patient and work an area well before moving on. The grass flats are holding seatrout in 3-5 feet of water and shrimp under popping corks will work best. This method will also pick up ladyfish which can used for the cut bait. The passes are a great location for spanish mackerel, ladyfish, trout, and even the occasional pompano. Bottom bouncing shrimp tipped jig heads will work for most, but the mac's seem to like faster moving bait so a cast and retrieve method is what you want.

Tight Lines,

Capt. Jon Fetter
