This past week has proved tough for backbay fishing in and around Estero Bay. Fish are being caught but there hasn't been much size to them. Seatrout have been cruising the grass flats in 3-5 feet of water and shrimp under popping corks will work best. Anglers will also pick up ladyfish and jacks with this set-up. There are plenty of mangrove snapper to be caught around the oyster bars and mangrove islands. Shrimp under floats or shrimp tipped jig heads will work fine. The passes are producing trout, ladyfish, jacks, and even small sharks. Bottom bouncing shrimp tipped jig heads seems to be the ticket.
