With the rising temperatures of our local waters, and no cold days in site. This coming week should be just as good as the last. The nearshore bite exploded with mackerel showing up at 10ft of water and out. A small spoon with a small piece of wire leader will work well for these toothy critters. While playing with the mackerel, keep your eyes open for other nearshore travelers this time of the year like cobia, permit and tripletail. Snook are also happy to see the water reach into the mid 70's. Live bait free-lined on 2/0 circle hooks worked best when targeting snook this week. Redfishing has been good, and targeting the edges of bars during low tide and the mangroves during high tide will earn you a nice fish in most cases. If you prefer using artificials, try jerk baits or swim baits like Stinky Fingers or Redfish magics rigged weedless. Trout, sheepshead and snappers continue to fill in the slow times and are happy to gobble up both whole and pieces of shrimp.
