Summer is here

As the water temperatures continue to warm up and the dog days of summer set in getting an early start or fishing early evening has been key. Fishing with artificial baits this week early in the morning worked well as bait was sometimes hard to find early. The passes from Captiva to Wiggins have been productive for action of many different species, and if you do find bait, bouncing it through those areas can be productive. Snook fishing although good this week did slow down a bit. Most fish we picked up were caught early in the morning on both topwater and swimbaits. Redfishings been a bit tough, however if you put time into it and work those same artificial baits along mangrove shore lines, you'll eventually find a few. Shark fishing has been good just about everywhere from 12 feet out, and cut baits with a little bit of wire and a 6/0 circle hook will certainly get there attention.
