The Hunt for Red October

The time is fast approaching, and as we catch more and more silver redfish, it tells anglers there coming in from their offshore haunts ready to fatten up. Although I haven't seen any big schools of fish just yet, it will not be long. The tropical storm / hurricane that went by last week gave us an excellent pre-frontal bite followed up with a few days of settling down. Redfish, snook, trout, and juvenile tarpon are still doing their thing and the way to go has been getting out early in the morning or the last few hours of light during the evening. The nearshore reefs have been good for snappers up to 15 inches and a surprising amount of sheepshead showing up from time to time. Mackerel schools are moving around so be ready to lose some tackle should the "mack attack" find your boat. Tight lines
