052010 I am with Bob and Bob today and we are fishing Flamingo, we made a quick stop to look for Tarpon caught a handful of Trout. We moved on to Middle Grounds to look for bait and the Bob's caught a bunch of Trout and a few Ladyfish which I saved for bait. I saw a bunch of commotion on the surface so I stopped and threw my castnet on a bunch of Pilchards. It only took a couple tosses and we were on our way. I hit the boundry markers looking for a possible Cobia but they were loaded with Trout Jacks and Blue Runners. We moved on and went in search of a Tarpon! I ran to Big Sable and put out my baits like the other 5 boats there, as we watched the other boats no one ever hooked up. The great part about this is we hooked a 60 lb. Tarpon which put on a show for 5 minutes until he thru the hook. The boat was slow and we moved on I ran inside and started chumming with my Pilchards and the fish responded. There was a couple pops and then a swirl, we got a couple baits in there and we were hooked up to a 24 inch Trout and a 5 lb. Redfish. I tossed out a couple more freebies and the surface erupted. We hooked another Redfish and a big Snook which got bob around a tree. This pandamonium went on for 45 minutes until the tide stopped and I ran out of pilchards. We ended up with 3 over slot Redfish (one was eaten by a Shark), a handful of slot Reds and some smaller Snook. It is actually great to see the smaller Snook because they have not been plentiful after the big freeze in January.
