Happy New Year! I can't think of a better way to welcome in the New Year than witnessing the first sunrise of 2009 from Florida Bay in Everglades National Park. In my book, it simply doesn't get any better. Hopefully, it means that this year will be the best fishing year yet :cool: This week I changed things up, switching to bottom probing baits and targeting dirty East Cape water. With slow moving tides and slightly sporty winds, I felt the change may provide a more consistant bite. The result was tons of fish, tons of variety and tons of smiles. Although I mixed in some sight fishing here and there, the majority of fish were caught the old school "Herman Lucerne" way... jig heads & shrimp! I had the pleasure of fishing with Mark (www.shallowwatercustoms.com) & son Ryan, Bubba & Shelby Baker and Mike Quesada with friend Jose Llano. All three days yielded numerous Snook, Redfish, Black Drum & Trout... their rods were constantly bent! Here are some of the better pics... {%image_id=7575%} {%image_id=7571%} {%image_id=7572%} {%image_id=7573%} {%image_id=7574%}
