Summer is Here and Fishing is Good

The tarpon bite in the Everglades and Biscayne has been good. We have jumped a good number and landed a few fish. We can officially say it's summer in south Florida because it is hot! And a great boating season is here. It is a great time of the year to get out for many reasons. Mornings are a super time to take a youngster out and teach them to fish. Here we have so many options. In Biscayne Bay there are many channels and patch reefs that are fishy. The coastline creeks and sandbars are excellent too. Expect snapper, bonefish, shark, jacks, and tarpon. Barracuda, permit, and bonefishing will peak early and late. Afterwards, go for a swim and cool off near a shallow sandbar-just don't do this in the Everglades. Flamingo waters should be prime for baby tarpon, snook, and redfish. This is tops for Gulf reefs if you can get out there. The big groupers should test your strength. Bring jigs and some live bait and the fly rods too. Check your batteries and don't forget to maintain your engines water pump and impeller. Make sure to change that every season or when water pressure drops.
