{%image_id=57095%} There is something strange happening on our Fort Lauderdale fishing charters this week. Groupers are biting like crazy. This is the last month where groupers can be kept. They go out of season as of January 1. But for the last 2 week, the groupers are just plain ole' snapping! We're catching them on the wrecks in 60ft of water all the way up to 220ft. They are biting live baits really good and we're also catching them on ballyhoo plugs. The groupers we're catching have been humongous this year. We've caught several giant black groupers over 50 pounds over the past few days. Most of the groupers that we're catching are black groupers. A few red groupers are being caught on the drift boat as well as some strawberries and coneys. {%image_id=57100%} A couple days ago we caught the biggest gag grouper that I have ever seen. Gag groupers are normally 15-20 pounds in weight but this gag was over 60 pounds. I have been grouper fishing in Fort Lauderdale for many years and I don't think I have ever seen a gag grouper caught even close to that size. This fish swam too close to the nuclear power plant or something. But that fish aside, the grouper bite has been phenomenal this past week and it doesn't seem to be slowing down at all. The groupers are snapping out there. Come out and get some while they are still in season and biting everything you throw at them. Sea ya on the water. Capt.
