Couldn't Catch Live Bait So We Went Offshore

{%image_id=59226%} We went out today on our 33ft Conch down to Miami to try to catch some live baits for our upcoming charters this week. We don't charge extra fees for live baits like most charter boats do, so we invest a lot of time going after live goggle eyes and threadfins in our spare time when we don't have a charter. Well today, we went down to Miami to try to get some during the daytime bite, but they just weren't biting. Couldn't find them anywhere and they weren't marking up on our fish finder. After 2 hours without a single baitfish caught in the well, we decided to head offshore to do some fun fishing. {%image_id=59227%} We put out the high speed lures and started trolling down the reef. We picked at a few mahi-mahi right off the bait, mostly little ones. A couple tuna were caught as well. The small blackfin tunas are all over the place this time of year. And then when we were just thinking about calling it a day, we get a double header wahoo bite on the 2 deep baits. One of them was 25-30 pound and the other only 10-12 pounds. It was a fun day on the water and although we didn't get the goggle eyes and threadfin herring we started off trying to get, the day turned out even more successful because we didn't give us and just kept fishing. Good luck to everyone out there over the next couple days. I have available on tomorrow's 8 hour charter if anyone can come or still some room on the shared 4 hour trip too. Call anytime if you'd like some fishing information or to schedule a reservation. Sea ya on the water. Capt. Andy Roydhouse www.FishHeadquarters.com 754-214-7863 cell
