Drift Fishing Trips Are Catching Lots of Nice Grouper & Snappers

{%image_id=52357%} Our drift fishing trips are loading up on the groupers and snappers this week. We're catching a lot of red groupers out there on the reefs in 60-80ft of water. Most of the red groupers have been in the 6-10 pound range and a few bigger black groupers lately too. Last night, we caught 6 red groupers, one of them was a huge 20+ pounder as well as 10 mutton snappers. Mutton snappers are also hitting well out there. The full moon tonight will probably have a good effect on the mutton snapper bite. Muttons like the full moon. {%image_id=52355%} As with every winter, the yellowtails go in shallower and most of them are pretty small. We concentrate on fishing for the mangroves instead which are a bit bigger and more plentiful. Mangroves hang out in deeper water, usually 40-60ft. The yellowtails have been in really shallow lately, 20-30 ft of water. Decent action on mangrove snappers most nights. We're getting lots of other fish species on the night anchor trip as well including porgies, grunts, toros, lionfish, blue runners, jacks and sharks.
