Fishing Report for Ft. Lauderdale & Port Everglades

Smokin! With our Everglades still on fire, we can still see the smoke settling over the entire state. From the water you can see the haze all the way from north to south. Our fishing has been good the past few weeks with the Dolphin not to hard to find and more Tunas coming through. A few Blackfins and alot of Bonito. Kingfish are always a given right now but their size went down from last months run of big fish. The bottom fishing is always fun. We have been dropping to the bottom out deep and catching a few species of Sharks like Hammerheads and Bull Sharks. Every once in awhile you get that familiar tap that you know could be a Swordfish. Thats what great about fishing our waters is that you never know what can jump on your lines. My bait of choice right now is the live Ballyhoo. They have been doing the trick most of the time. It usually takes about an hour to anchor up and chum them out. Then nobody wants to stop fishing for them because its so fun. In my opinion I think no fish can resist a live Ballyhoo in their face. The water has been very calm, so if you can manage to fit a fishing trip into your busy schedule now is the time. See you on the rip! Captain Cary Hanna 954-907-0967
