Fishing Trip South Yields Nice Catches

Last week we fished Key West and the Dry Tortugas. It's always fun to head south this time of year because of all the great fishing opportunities. The fishing in the lower keys is usually outstanding because there is much less fishing pressure than in the Ft. Lauderdale metropolitan area – and this time was no exception. We caught a number of blackfin tunas fishing around the shrimp boats in the Gulf. We also managed some nice black grouper, red grouper, mutton snapper, african pompano and some big kingfish. {%image_id=33107%} {%image_id=33108%} {%image_id=33110%} {%image_id=33109%} Back home in the Hollywood/Ft. Lauderdale area, we've been catching some mahi, kingfish and a few sailfish. Fishing the shallower nearshore waters we been catching yellowtail snapper, red grouper and some mackerel. Looking forward to the next couple of weeks - we should have some good action typical to this month of the year. {%image_id=33106%} Good luck on the water and be safe, Capt.
