The troll off Fort Lauderdale in the past two days has been decent, with blackfin tunas, bonitos, and mahi-mahi's all taking seawitch feather or ballyhoo off planers. Lady Pamela 2 sportfishing boats have been trolling anywhere from 100 to 350 feet of water, sometimes wandering out to about 800 feet. The nighttime driftfishing has really started producing some mangrove snappers as they are starting to spawn this month. I expect July and August to be very good for mangrove snapper fishing both day and night. Today, in addition to mangroves, we caught a bunch of her over 40 vermilion snappers, along with a mixed bag of triggerfish, big porgies, and grunts. {%image_id=48475%} Swordfishing has been hit or miss this week. We had a nighttime swordfish trip last Saturday night and we caught one fish that went about 100 pounds. On a daytime swordfish trip one day earlier this week we had three sword bites and had one hookup in 1200 feet of water, but the fish threw the hook when it was still 800 feet underneath the boat.
