Dolphin (Mahi-mahi) and Kingfish The past two weeks has produced lots of Dolphin (Mahi-mahi). These fish have been coming through about 10 to 15 miles offshore. The fish were around large seaweed patches the one-week and last week we found them under birds. All the fish were schoolies. The fish were 3 to 6 lbs and an occasional 10 pounder. We did find some real small schoolies under a board. There must have 50 of them. We caught and released a few of them and then left them, as they were the real small ones. There were some reports from other boats seeing some Blue Marlin around feeding on these fish. On the reef, the Bonita’s are here in numbers. Lots of fun to catch and release or to keep for baits. (Strips and shark bait) We did catch some real nice sized King Mackerel this week. Most of the fish are 12 to 25 lbs. We have been catching them trolling Bonita strips and on live bait. These fish were in 80 to 130’ of water. There have been a few Sailfish around. We caught one trolling last week in 150’ of water and I have seen quite a few free jumpers late in the PM in 60 to 250’ of water. We did catch a few nice sharks lately. Dusky sharks around 6’. These sharks are on the reef and around the wrecks. Two weeks ago the wrecks produced some nice Groupers and Amberjacks. Lots of Barracudas over these wrecks too. The weather has been decent and we have caught a few more Swordfish. Our fish were 50 to 75 lbs. There were a few reports of a couple fish in the 200 lb class being caught too. Catch-em-up, Captain Kunta
