Fishing is good and the seas are calm! For the past two weeks the seas have been calm 12 out of 14 days. The only two days it got rough were from Hurricane Charley. We hope to benefit from the storm as debris should be floating and maybe some nice Wahoo and Mahi-mahi gather around this debris as it drifts by here.. The King Mackerel and Bonito are still plentiful on the reefs. The bigger Kings are being caught on live bait and the Bonito are still eating the 3 ½ drone spoon on the planer rods. We have caught a few nice Warsaw groupers on the wrecks. We usually catch them while we are fishing for Amberjacks with live Blue Runners just off the wreck. There are still a few Amberjacks and Sharks on the wrecks too. Mahi-mahi have been scarce. Even the boats in the Florida Keys have had a hard time finding any. There have been a few Wahoo along the reefs, from 120’ to 300’ of water. Live bait and jet lures have been the best baits to catch them. Last night we went Swordfishing for the first time in a while and we were one for two using squid. The fish was about 50 lbs. We were fishing in 1300’ of water and the bite was on the 50’ bait. Overall, the fishing is still pretty good. The seas should be calm for another month or so. We are looking forward to the Swordfish tournament on the 21st of this month and we will be out a few nights this week. Catch-em-up, Captain Kunta
