January Sailfish and Sharks The fishing was really good for the past couple of weeks. The bait has moved back in and it has brought the Sharks along with the Sailfish. We had a few days this week with 2 Sailfish one trip and then 4 Sailfish the next trip. With the East winds blowing, we have even caught some nice gaffer Mahi-mahi. When the Sailfish don’t bite, we go soak some shark baits in the deep water around the wrecks. This has produced some really nice sized Hammerhead Sharks, Black Tip Sharks and even a real nice Spinner Shark that jumped all over the place. The King Mackerel have shown up again and even some bomber sized Bonitos. Most of these fish are caught trolling planers and spoons on the reef in 120 feet of water. There are a few Groupers and Mutton Snappers around the shallower wrecks. The Swordfishing has still been excellent, but the weather has made it tough to get out there. Catch-em-up, Captain Kunta
