Fort Lauderdale, Florida - Saltwater Fishing Report

We had the chance to place a few live baits in some of my favorite inshore spots the other day. It looks like we found out where the jacks are hanging out. They were quick to bite every bait we put in the water. All mixed sizes, with some of them too big for our tackle. What I noticed is they had that clean silver color to them, from spending more time in the surf than the canals lately. Ever since the mullet started showing they have been a rare sight in the back canal network. There is a few slob tarpon hanging out in the canals though. Until we get another north-northeast blow the mackerel fishing will stay kind of slow nearshore. In waters a little deeper though you stand a good chance at one of the sailfish, dolphin or kingfish that are heading south just off our shores. The action has been spotty but when you get lucky and they fish find you it has been great. Sea Ya! Captain Ron Mallet
