Fort Lauderdale, Florida - Saltwater Fishing Report

Made it to the new year. We even had a bit of cold weather recently. Not much bait on the inshore waters. This mean the fish are scattered and some searching is needed to find them. The usual spots are working though, the best action is coming around the local filet tables and the marina docks. Outside the inlet the Mackerel, Snapper and smaller assorted species are taking baits close to shore. Yesterday morning gave us some of the hottest ofshore action in a while. We had 11 sailfish bites in 3 hours and released 6 fish. We also saw 20 plus fish swim south past our boat. They were reacting to the cold weather that hit our area. As fishing would be though, we never had a bite in the afternoon trip. I am heading out to see if more Sails are ready to play this morning as soon as this report is done. I will be part of the Saltwater Sportsman Seminar Series again this year. We will be in Hollywod,Florida on January 18.
