Fort Lauderdale, Florida - Saltwater Fishing Report

As we get deeper into summer we pick up the typical summer patterns. Closer to shore the Bonita are taking the baits quicker than the Kingfish. A suprise Sailfish has won the race a few times lately too. Offshore the Dolphin action has been fairly consistent. No big ones but lots of good size schoolies. Most of the action is 7 to 12 miles out. Look for the birds. Inshore rods are being bent by the Barracuda. A few Jacks earlier in the morning and the Tarpon are mixed in around the inlet. This is the time of year the Snook are stacked up in the inlet. Remember this is catch and release time and they are there for some hanky panky so be nice. Try to release them as soon as possible and respect the other anglers space. This is a hard core group of anglers and they have a certain routine that makes this all work.
