Fort Lauderdale, Florida - Saltwater Fishing Report

Summer is here and June has been good to us with baited rods in the water! I guess you came here to get the inshore report but all I can do for you at this time is relay what I have my friends are telling me. I've had my lines in the water outside the inlet lately. The tarpon are jumping on mullet in the ICW and up the New River. Most boats fishing later in the day or after dark are getting quite a few bites. The sizes are ranging from 30 to over 100 pounds. I see large schools of mullet in the canals as I head out each morning. This is a good site for this late in the season. While the bait stays around the Tarpon, Jacks and Snook should stick around in numbers filling thier bellies. Remeber though, we have a healthy supply of resident fish that stay here year round. They have figured out where they can get feed daily, at the local fish cleaning stations. Find one thats used regularly and you'll find fish. Usually some very big ones too. As I tell people who seem suprised to learn this routine. "If the fish didn't take away the carcasses regularly there would be a pile of bones sticking up out of the water in a few months". Think about it. Anyway I've been offshore enjoying the great dolphin action. The Sailfish and Tunas are still showing up for a suprise too. Junes been good! Sea Ya! Captain Ron Mallet
