Fort Lauderdale Mahi Mahi fishing

Mahi Mahi Fishing in Fort Lauderdale was pretty decent today. While we only had a half day trip and not much time to really spend hunting offshore for them we were still able to catch four nice mahi. The seas were a little choppy offshore as well so we headed back in toward the reef and caught a couple good size kingfish and a couple bonitas to boot! Mahi Fishing has been great this month but they are moving farther and farther offshore. To really target these fish we you need to book a 6 hour or 8 hour trip . It is also best if you can go during the week. On the weekends everyone has Mahi Fever and is big as the ocean is it gets small quick when there is only one or two weedlines or edges to fish. Mahi fishing in Fort Lauderdale or anywhere for that matter is really a hunting game. You can catch them at anytime your trolling offshore but your odds jump considerably when you can find a weed or debris line, a tree bancc, pallet or any other floating structure where the bait can try and hide from these "green demons". We always fish a deep bait on a planer or down rigger for the wahoos that often accompany the mahi around the debris. Triple tails are another tasty treat that we will find on the structure as well and are welcomed in our fish box to stay for dinner!
