October 8, 2013 Captain Darin and JJ had the morning trip with the Lady Pamela II today, with John, his wife, and little son, visiting from Ohio. They were out to catch something big! The crew set out at 8 am and started catching a few bonitos and a blackfin tunas right out in front of Port Everglades inlet. After 3 hours of trolling, and plenty of practice reeling in 5-15lb fish, they moved offshore Ft. Lauderdale and put shark baits out in 310 feet of water. The rod bent over right away and it was one of the toughest fighting sharks that we've ever caught aboard one of the Pamelas. It was a monster 11 foot tiger shark that went nearly 700lbs! This was an amazing catch as the few tiger sharks we have caught here in Fort Lauderdale are usually juveniles about 4 feet long. There is no doubt that Captain Darin delivered the big fish for our anglers today! {%image_id=35421%} {%image_id=35422%} {%image_id=35423%} One of the other Pamelas also had big shark catches, bringing a 10 foot thresher shark to the boat and landing a 100 lb mako shark. The thresher is an exotic shark with a tail that is nearly one-third of its body length, while the speedy mako has a fearsome set of toothy jaws. These fish are quite the sight when you catch them.
