{%image_id=69205%} As the first week of January 2022 has come to an end, the weather was great in Fort Lauderdale, while the fishing has been a little hit and miss. The bite here is usually best when the seas are choppy and there's a little drizzle coming down. So, due to the calm seas, the fishing has been a little erratic this week, giving us several strong days, as well as a couple of slow ones. But for me, fishing is always fun, and while you'll find that there are some fish who cooperate with us better than others, we never go home empty handed. {%image_id=69203%} We did catch some good fish this week, including Wahoo, King Mackerel and Snapper. The Wahoo bite is best when trolling deep in water between 200 and 400 ft. deep, while King Mackerel most often fall for live bait fished just off the edge of a reef. The Kings put up a spectacular fight on light tackle, which is an experience you don't want to miss out on. Also, when the sea breeze does pick up, we like to use kite fishing, with Sailfish as the main target. With the help of the wind, the kite is used to present a live baitfish close to the water surface, which is one of the best ways to trigger a Sailfish bite in inshore waters. {%image_id=69204%} And finally, bottom fishing with cut bait has been very successful this week, resulting in a dozen gorgeous vermillion snappers, yellow eye snappers, as well as a few groupers for good measure.

Tight Lines,
