Fort Lauderdale fishing in June As the weather begins to heat up here in South Florida, so does the fishing. Early starts are important to beat the heat. Early dawn patrol on the reef will bring plenty of kingfish and bonitas. Trolling two planers on spectra or other braided line will get your baits down to the action. Spoons are a no brainer for this type of fishing. A #3 1/2 Drone spoon is what we pull on the "Local Knowledge" on 70 feet of 60# shock cord on the planers. We run #4 and #6 planers, the # 4 is run long and the #6 short.. We also incorporate three or four top baits, shotgun and out of the riggers, with either ballyhoo or strip baits. If the water is dirty we fish brighter colors say pink and chartreuse or pink and white, in cleaner water we fish more blue and white or pink and blue. Pedro Martinez (the pitcher for the Mets) fished with us this past week. What a great guy and his assistant Frank. We trolled offshore and found some mahi mahi and then hit the reef for some snappers. Great time guys thanks again. If you would like to go fishing and have fun call me at 954 522 4773. Ask for Capt.
