Ft. Lauderdale Deep Sea Fishing

Today dawned overcast and with a slight drizzling rain. Not a good day for a Ft. Lauderdale deep sea fishing charter in a lot of people's minds. Not so for the Myers brothers and one lucky father in law. Not even a mention of the crummy weather as the Myers men got aboard. Ben lives here in Ft. Lauderdale so it wasn't as if it was just great to be outdoors as if he were escaping some snow. Rain? No big deal. A little chilly? No problem. Our kind of anglers. Put on the rain gear and off we go. Beautiful Gulfstream blue water all the way inside of the second reef, but a south running current which is not a favorite. Our first fish had an unhappy ending as we pulled the hook on a Wahoo easily over 50#. We have been doing well with the Wahoo as of late and it stung to lose one, especially one of that size. Even 1st mate Andrew got a little down on that one (he doesn't get discouraged easily). Out go the live baits again and we are rewarded with a nice Sailfish on the flat line for Ben on spin tackle. Now the rain has stopped, we have a nice catch, and it's still early. The Sailfish swims away only a little worse for wear and Andrew sets out the spread again. And again… and again… Four more Sailfish, four Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi) up to 17 # and a Kingfish in the upper teens. We DO love what we do. The sun poked her head out of the clouds for all of 10 minutes and the drizzle was annoying for most of the charter. Oh well…. Were charged up and ready for tomorrow and will start our day in the same area in 120 feet of water. Ft.
