Ft. Lauderdale fishing charters and summer's end

{%image_id=60662%}So summer break has ended for our younger anglers (and their parents) and school everywhere is back in full swing. My two have shipped out to Tallahassee and UCF in Orlando. Our home is surprisingly quiet (empty nest as they say). The number visitors in town and booking Ft. Lauderdale fishing charters has slowed considerably. Weekend charters are still booked out strongly but the weekdays reflect the change in so many peoples schedules. So we fish a little less, but the fishing has remained pretty strong. {%image_id=60660%} So pleasant here with the high today of 90 with a slight easterly breeze, clear skies, and Captain Kopper and 1st mate JJ are continuing the recent trends here of catching, not just fishing. We continue to often choose the reefs and water less than 200 feet in depth as our main focus as opposed to venturing way offshore, which despite a few more Mahi-Mahi out there, remains a bit of a gamble on many days. The photos accompanying this report are pictures of some of the younger set we have enjoyed having aboard with us, reflecting what the reef line fishing is offering. So your mind keeps going back to that "pleasant" 90 degree statement? NY City looking to top out @ 98 and Boston expected to reach 100. Still sunscreen and a hat weather at 90 here but we're feeling a bit chilled today as we look at the last days of August. LOL. {%image_id=60664%} {%image_id=60661%} Kings, Bonito, some Sailfish, Wahoo, Tunas and the occasional Mahi-Mahi along the edges of those near shore reefs. Various species of Jacks and Snappers on structure when the current allows a good presentation of the bait. Smaller live baits such as pilchards and Dork Jacks drawing bites. Barracudas prevalent right now and good sized sharks here too, those sharks especially over and in between the reefs after dark.{%image_id=60663%} Tight lines and good fishing to all of you from all of us here aboard the Marlin My Darlin. Rick, Matt, Tommy K, JJ and Cameron. See you on the rip.{%image_id=60659%}
