Ft. Lauderdale Fishing/ Deep Sea

Making you jealous of our Ft. Lauderdale deep sea fishing today is what I hope for here. Sunny skies, calm ocean waters, temperatures in the high 60's or maybe up to 71… I can't tell anymore, even 70 feels cool to me, and that coming from a displaced Chicagoan. With some purchased live bait we set out trolling at first. Trying to catch a few fish for Rob, Jonathan, Mathew and Dodee (sp?), we wanted to catch a few Kingfish before the moon set. I have to say it was the best bite of Kingfish I have seen in months. I hope it signals their return because lately, they have been few and far between. We ended up catching 10, with a huge Cero Mackerel as well. As always this time of year, we are on the lookout for a Sailfish while trolling and when the deep line went of, Andrew was sure it was "him". We stung him hard but he got off and didn't come back, I made a fast turn and a high line came down. Sailfish was the cry, the lines were cleared and we began catching Jonathan's first Sailfish ever! Whenever a kid catches a fish, it's exciting. He did a great job of following instructions and after about 20 minutes or so, we had the fish next to the boat. With the fish fairly tired, Andrew was able to boat him, get a measurement and take a picture as shown with this report. I hope that comes out.{%image_id=18642%} With the moon set, time for the livies. After catching some bullet Bonito, we began searching for another Sailfish, or anything else that would feed. After some time, we got 2 hits, both Sails. We hooked one but the second fish, a smaller fish could not eat the bait all the way and was missed. Now with Rob angling on light tackle, we again were "backing down" chasing our fish to capture. With little time left, we released the fish and reset hoping for another bite in the last few minutes. I'm afraid all we got was to watch the boat not 100 yards away fighting one beside us. None the less, it was a beautiful day on Ft. Lauderdale's deep sea for fishing. A nice catch and great people.
