{%image_id=63983%} This time of year anything can happen. You can catch some of the biggest fish of the year for south Florida in September and October. What we lack in numbers of fish we make up for in spades with the sheer size of the some of the fish we catch. Today, we went out on a private sportfishing charter and did some deep shipwreck fishing. We ended up catching one of the biggest Cubera Snappers I have ever seen or caught. Cubera snapper are an extremely rare snapper species that we do not catch very often at all. Most professional fishermen that are located in south Florida have never caught a true Cubera Snapper. Out of our fleet, I see one or two caught per year (and that's from our fleet of 14 charter boats). That just illustrates how rare they are to catch. They are traditionally nocturnal feeders but they do bite in the daytime too. They eat just about anything (I've heard lobsters work well as bait). August and September are the 2 best months of they year to catch Cubera snapper in south Florida. If you want to go out and try for one, give us a call, we know where they live. Good luck to everyone fishing this week. Lots of action on the fish and the choppy, rainy weather is actually really good for the bite. Sea ya on the water, Capt.
