August 22, 2015 The past few weeks Lady Pamela sportfishing has seen some phenomenal fishing. This has been the best August for mahi-mahi fishing that I can remember over the last 15 years. The fish have been gaffer size, ranging from 10-40 lbs. My captains have been working the boats anywhere from 800 to 1200 feet of water and from 5 to 10 miles offshore. The best bite is early in the morning and I prefer to book all day trips to get offshore and have plenty of time to search for the fish. There have also been a few wahoo and blackfin tunas caught off the reef edge, out to 200 feet of water. {%image_id=44905%} {%image_id=44904%} Yesterday we had a charter that was interested in catching sharks, and fortunately we were able to oblige. Our anglers got to wrestle with a 5 foot hammerhead shark, and a huge 10 foot dusky shark. Duskies can grow up to 12 feet long and weigh over 700 lbs, though we typically see only fish in the 6-7 foot range off Ft. Lauderdale. This 10-foot bruiser was a really nice catch. {%image_id=44906%} Tight Lines, Capt. David Ide Lady Pamela 2 Sport Fishing 954-761-8045 [email protected]
