June and July have brought hot weather and hot fishing to Fort Lauderdale. The kingfish and bonitas, a South Florida staple for constant action will eat you out of house and home. Early starts are better as the day heats up the fishing can slow down, but that early and late evening bite can be ravenous. Standard strip baits combined with sea witches and small squid skirts, drone spoons will also keep you busy with fish as well. The mahi mahi fishing has been pretty decent as well. More of the schoolies around farther offshore than earlier in the spring but normally more fish when you find them. Look for floating debris and weedlines and of course birds. Since we've been going farther offshore to find them it's hard not to try a drop in 1700 feet of water for a chance at a truly huge swordfish. Daytime swords average around 300 # and fish over 500 are becoming more common. Call me Capt. Mike at 954.522.4773 for your dream catch.
