Greetings, This week its all been backcountry fishing for me. What fun its been! Amazing for December because the Snook fishing is the big story. Inshore / Backcountry fishing is just about as good as it gets in Estero bay. Twice this week we released over thirty snook. One trip it was over fifty with a half dozen in or over the slot! Thread hearing, and scaled sardines are the bait of choice. Deep edges along mangrove shorelines with moving water or oyster bars, white holes on the flats are all good spots right now. The weather is very warm and I expect this fishing to last until a cold front changes things. There are also sheepshead and some gag grouper eating our baits along with some very big Jack Cravelle. Offshore the Red and Gag grouper bite is excellent along with a good number of king mackerel. This is a fantastic time for a family outing because the number of fish biting is really just about non stop. On our all day trips the Goliath grouper and Amberjack are here if very good numbers as well. Threadfin's & Blue Runners are the key to the good action. Have fun, this is a great time of year. Lots of open dates as well. Sincerely, Capt. Rick
