The fishing and the weather the past two months has been really good. This has been the warmest winter I can remember. With the warm weather has been light winds which is unusual for winter. Snook: Snook are not usually a fish that I target during the winter months but this year has been good for snook. The warm weather has kept lots of snook on the flats. I've been catching snook up to 26 inches in the potholes on low tide. I've been mostly catching them on DOA Cal baits fished on a jighead. I've also been catching them on shrimp worked on the bottom. The feeder creeks have held lots of smaller snook. Redfish: Redfishing this winter has not been as good as usual but I'm still catching a few each day. The colder the better for the reds. Low tide has been better for me when targeting redfish. Speckled trout: Trout is a staple winter catch in our area for winter. this year has been excellent for trout. All areas are holding good numbers of keeper trout this winter. Soft plastics and shrimp have produced the most fish. Cut bait is catching the larger trout over 24 inches. Flounder: This winter hasn't been great for flounder but lately I've been catching a few keepers. Shrimp on a jig has been working the best.
