Fort Myers Fishing Report 7-18-14 Rain Rain and more RAIN! That has been the story this week all over our region. Luckily for us though there hasn't been storms to severe to go fishing. I provide rain gear for my clients and never purposely put them in harms way. Despite these conditions the fishing has been good, as i always say the fish don't mind they are already wet! There has been some big mangrove snapper reported however i have been focusing on Snook and Reds. There is still no good sized white bait around and i expect that to continue for at least a few more weeks. So Pinfish it is! Chum a flat close to an edge and be patient, they will soon be in your net. For the Snook i have been fishing around docks and passes so a cork to hold them up in the water column is not always needed. When fishing around mangroves in the back parts of Estero Bay i have been using the cork with better success and landing decent Redfish. Trout are all over the near shore artificial reefs and will eat a piece of cut threadfin or even pinfish on the bottom. There is a plethora of species to be caught in the Gulf waters right now from Trout to Mackerel to grouper, snapper and sharks. Bring plenty of sunscreen and i have been doubling up on the water for my clients in preparation for these hot humid days. Mid days are tough so i recommend stopping for a bite to eat around that time, try "Flippers On The Bay" its the best restaurant in Estero Bay you wont be disappointed!
