Fort Myers Fishing Report - Tarpon - Spanish Mackrel
Fort Myers, florida

August 28, 2014
We are seeing a steady increase in the number of Tarpon heading south as fall is just around the corner. The resident tarpon are as active as ever and that bite will continue into the late fall. If you're going to be heading out this weekend check the passes and the beaches from Ft Myers beach south to Naples. The best bite has been casting 6" swim baits or trolling minnow baits. In addition to the Tarpon there are some bigger Spanish Macks, darn near king fish size. There are some big Snook on the beach as well. Even though season opens on the 1st of Sept please release every slot size snook you catch. Those slot size fish are the next generation of spawners and they need our protection. Far to valuable to catch just once! Have a great holiday weekend! {%image_id=40063%}
