Fort Myers Fishing Report - The Summer Bite Is About To Explode

After weeks of wind and abnormal cold fronts it looks like the week of May 15th could be the turning point. If the wind lays down and the water on the flats and in the Gulf clears up the bite will be epic. The erratic weather of the last month has bounced the fish all over. Normally by now I would have been catching Tarpon for 3 weeks, this year they just get going and then a front shuts them down. Two Weeks ago my clients had one of the best days of trout fishing I've ever seen. Lots of big specs, and the school must have been huge. They caught fish nearly every cast for two solid hours before the action slowed down. That's the kind of fishing action I expect will happen next week with some stable weather. The warmer daytime temps this week will get the water back over 80 degrees and with a break from the wind get out and go fishing. Pray for some rain, we desperately need it and be sure to offer a helping hand to those families that lost everything in the fires. Good Fishing Capt Eric Anderson [email protected]
