Good Inshore Action Greetings: February normally centers around snapper fishing for me on day long trips. This has not been the case lately due to high winds and heavy seas. Instead we have found plenty of inshore action to keep us busy. We made several trips in the past two weeks during offshore winds along the beach. We found excellent trout and sheepshead action over the structures and rocky spots. At times there was a good pompano also. On each of those trips we spent some time trolling and casting for Gag grouper. During cloudy conditions a very good early morning bite brought us several Gags, with many being over the 22" minimum size. When the wind was onshore we stayed inside. We caught black drum near the bridges and deeper docks. On the high tide phase the grass flats held trout and ladyfish. Using shrimp we caught snook, mostly undersize fish, near oyster bar points. We are currently under a passing front, so who knows what will be biting after. Normally its really good so check the weather and plan your trip. Sincerely,
