Ft. Myers - Offshore

Back In Action! Greetings, Hey fishing friends I have good news. The sky’s are clear, the Gulf is calm and I just had two great days offshore. Even better I have a real CATCHING report! We fished twenty five to thirty five miles out both days and targeted a mixed bag catch what ever we can type of trips. The Goliath grouper bite is very strong! We went 4 for six with the largest one going at least three hundred pounds. She ate a three-pound live mullet. Several nice cuda’s were released up to over forty pounds that broke in one of our new Accurate reels in fine fashion. Cobia are around, we spotted three, hooked and released one just over three feet long on a tube lure. Big spanish mackerel, Little Tunny (false albacore), and kings are feeding under diving birds. Running and gunning we caught all of them sight casting spoons; plastic baits, and plugs into the melee of feeding fish. Snapper were in frenzy and we caught thirty in short order both days. Grouper were not to active but the ones we hooked were good size ten to twelve pounds. Things will get better and better as water temperatures drop more baitfish will migrate into the area. Tarpon, kings, blackfin, and more cant be far behind and I for one cant wait to get our new SeaVee into that action! Bow em’ Up, Capt. Rick Featherstone
