Permit Arrive! Greetings, Fishing in Southwest Florida is always interesting especially offshore. We are catching fish every day and almost every day it’s been something new. Versatility is the key and is ready to change it up to keep action in high gear. Offshore, twenty miles and beyond was very steady with some great action before the red tide came in. We found several ledges to the North East that held lots of gag grouper and mangrove snapper. Not a bunch of keeper fish, but action over the top on fish just under legal size using light spin tackle fifty fish mornings were common. Right now from Wiggins North past eight miles the red tide is pretty tough. In the five to twenty mile ranges we had great permit action to the South West last week. On those nice days the fish were up on top so sight casting to very large fish was common. Inside of five miles the tripletail catch has been solid. Plenty of fish, plus cobia, cuda’s, and a few permit to make it well worth the effort. Along the beach silver trout action is as good as it gets along with some cobia and black drum. Bow em’ up, Capt. Rick
