Big Fish Come Home Greetings, To describe fishing lately I would have to just say, “Take your pick”. It’s all good in the Gulf right now. The main show is Tarpon. Lots of big fish are in the area and we are after them almost every day. From Naples to Redfish pass the beach fishing is good. While some folks are bottom baiting with cut baits, we have pretty much stuck to the live baits with good results. Using all light tackle we have released fish from sixty pounds to one hundred and eighty pounds. Permit are very active now migrating with the tarpon and over heavy structure offshore. Smoker kings are around we landed a thirty five pound smoker this morning that ate a live thread. Goliath grouper are eating and some of them are HUGE. We released three this week from one hundred twenty five pounds to four hindered pounds. Goliath love crabs, but will take almost anything that is fresh and big. There are lots of big sharks in the region as well. We had a fifteen foot hammerhead eat a tarpon at boatside yesterday! Bow em’ Up, Capt. Rick Featherstone
