Summer is Here Greetings, Well summer has arrived in full force. The good news with the hot afternoons is hot fishing to get us motivated to get out there early. Along the beach and on the near shore reefs there is good snook action. Beach snook have been taking threadfin’s every time we try. On the reef the same bait with small sinkers to get the bait down and still swim freely with bring big strikes. Some tarpon are also on the beach. Some days better than others but always worth a look. Threadfin and catfish tails are the bait of choice. Summer as also brought our big man in the brown suit here. Goliath grouper are on patrol on most of the artificial reefs in Lee and Collier county waters. Most any big bait will bring a big bite. Take your biggest rod and hang on for the picture of a lifetime. I love those fish! On hard bottom there are big schools of bait. Little tunny, Spanish mackerel, smoker kingfish, and cuda are all on the chew. I have been using mostly threadfin for all of them drifting in the schools of bait. Go early and get home early. Beat the heat and the afternoon thunderstorms. Sincerely, Capt. Rick
