Good Water Brings Good Fishing Greetings, Greetings, With our summer water quality being very good our near shore fishing has been excellent lately. Large amounts of bait are everywhere and the fish that love to eat them are active. Spanish mackerel are around most of the artificial reef and wrecks. Lady fish and jacks are mix in as well. Silver spoons, jigs, and small plugs that imitates a glass minnow with bring a quick strike in a chum line. Live pilchards will drive them crazy and bring them close for a fly rod shot most times. Try a Clouser minnow they love them. Tarpon are starting to show near the bridges and along the beach. Not showing like in early spring but rather very subtle. They are feeding on the bottom this week and catfish tails, cut ladyfish are the baits of choice. Fish early. Permit have been active on the calmer days near the surface. Wrecks from five to twenty five miles have produced for us with patience. Crabs are the preferred bait most days. Keep you eye on the weather. Sincerely, Capt. Rick
