If your not catching fish inshore right now, then your not on the fish. The fish are hungry because there isn't whole lot of food on the flats and in the creeks this time of year. Its no secret that fish like speckled trout and redfish group up the colder the water is. Throw in the lower than normal tides that we get with a north wind and the fish get even less scattered. This time of year redfish, speckled trout, flounder and snook feed on crustations and it will few months before the baitfish will migrate back inshore. There are only two types of habitat that help our fish warm up after a cold front. Fish can either move shallow or deep. Both types of areas produce good fishing but usually its one or the other that is "on" at any given time. Its up to you to figure out which area is holding the fish. Don't expect to go offshore all week and then expect to be able to get it done on the flats this time of year. Do your homework and you'll be rewarded some excellent inshore fishing. If you don't you could get your feelings hurt.
