Good fishing resumes after close call with Dennis We dodged a bullet with hurricane Dennis and the good fishing picked up right where it left off with the exception of tarpon. They probably aren't very far away and tommorrow I'll go out and start looking for them again. Snook fishing was the main thing going after the storm. We couldn't get out on the beaches so we fished as close to them as possible. The Passes were dirty but most of the beach snook took refuge there and we could as many as we wanted using live pinfish. Most of the fish were 21-24 inches with only about 1 per every 10 being a slot fish. I have been mostly redfish lately but they are hard to come by this time of year. I have been hitting the mangroves with plastics and picking up a few every day. Most range 3-7 pounds. I have not seen any large schools as of yet. It should be any day now. The forecast for the rest of the summer is good except when there is a tropical system in the area. Tarpon should be in the area until mid September and snook will be leagal to keep September 1st. Redfishing will get bettter with each week and a few trout will start to show when the water cools a little. Good Luck! Capt. Scott Hughes Blackwater Charters 941-575-2389 home 941-628-4247 cell
